Community members in the EU, UK, UAE and US issue a joint statement after seven Alawite engineers and workers were killed and four wounded at a checkpoint on 30 September.

1 October 2026
Members of the Fahl community, originally from the Syrian town of Fahl, who now live in the European Union, Britain, the United Arab Emirates and the United States, have issued a formal statement condemning what they describe as a sectarian massacre of Alawite employees on 30 September 2026, west of the city of Homs.
According to the account shared by Syrian Alawite advocates, seven Alawite engineers and workers were killed and four others wounded as they returned from work. The statement, dated 1 October, was circulated in Arabic and English and shared publicly on X by Sarah (@SyriaCoast), who urged followers to “read and share their statement.”
🚨 STATEMENT FROM THE PEOPLE OF FAHEL, SYRIA
Following the September 30 massacre in western Homs that killed 7 Alawite engineers and workers and wounded 4 others, members of the Fahl community living in the EU, UK, UAE, and United States have issued the attached statement. They are demanding accountability and international attention to the continuing violence against Alawites in Syria. Please read and share their statement.
What the statement says
The signatories say armed groups affiliated with the Syrian state carried out the attack at a General Security checkpoint west of Homs, and that “such a massacre could not have occurred without explicit and clear orders” from intelligence services. They hold the de facto authority in Damascus fully responsible.
“Building a stable, viable, and investment-friendly state in Syria is impossible unless this terrorist regime is abandoned and replaced with secular, civilian authorities that strive to rebuild life instead of perpetrating massacres.”
The statement further alleges the attack was designed to deflect from domestic pressure after large demonstrations, to “sow discord among the people and inflame Sunni sectarian tensions.” It also expresses regret at attempts by some Western countries to promote the interim president.
