The Abrahamic Movement has publicly and unambiguously rejected violence, saying it has no connection to any action or idea that promotes the use of weapons. The statement, published by the movement’s leader, Tom Wegner, responds to rumors that actors in Syria are encouraging the recruitment of armed people in the movement’s name.
According to the statement, those claims reached the movement only as rumors. Its answer is direct: the Abrahamic Movement “stands for the absolute opposite of any idea of armed struggle.”
What the movement said
The movement says it will look into the reports “in a respectful manner,” while making its position clear in the meantime. It also set an expectation for everyone who identifies with its name: advance peace and dialogue, and act accordingly. The full text, reproduced word for word from the original post, follows.
Official statement — The Abrahamic Movement
The Abrahamic Movement stands for the absolute opposite of any idea of armed struggle.
Rumors have reached us about actors in Syria who, according to the claims, are promoting the recruitment of armed people for various actions in the name of the Abrahamic Movement. We therefore need to state this clearly and firmly: the Abrahamic Movement has no connection whatsoever to actions or ideas that promote violence or the use of weapons — in any form.
Our purpose is exactly the opposite: to change minds and hearts so that we can live with one another without needing to resort to weapons.
We will look into these rumors in a respectful manner. In any case, we make this clear: our path is the opposite of the path of violence. We expect every member of the Movement to always advance the path of peace and dialogue — and to act accordingly.

Two paths, one clear choice
A movement built on dialogue
The Abrahamic Movement describes its mission as building “enduring bridges of dialogue, cooperation, and peace between Israel and the Muslim world,” rooted in the shared heritage of the Abrahamic faiths. Its stated aim is to foster mutual understanding and joint initiatives that go beyond political divides.
“Our purpose is exactly the opposite: to change minds and hearts so that we can live with one another without needing to resort to weapons.”
Wegner, a strategic advisor and author, is a former spokesperson for Prime Minister Ehud Barak and a former advisor at the Peres Center for Peace. He is now founder and president of the Middle East Center. His works on the Abraham Accords and the Abrahamic Revolution are published in Hebrew and English, with an Arabic edition forthcoming.
