FFN Welcomes Historic Appointment of Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri as Morocco’s First Female Prime Minister
Faith & Freedom News has congratulated Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri on her appointment, calling it an important milestone for women’s empowerment, political participation and leadership in the Arab world.
King Mohammed VI appointed El Mansouri as Head of Government on 29 September 2026, following parliamentary elections in which her Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) won the largest number of seats. El Mansouri, 50, is a lawyer and prominent Moroccan political figure who became the first woman to serve as mayor of Marrakesh. She returned to the mayoralty in 2021 after serving as Minister of National Territory Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy. After meeting the King at the Royal Palace in Rabat, she called her appointment a “truly historic moment” and a source of pride for Moroccan women. (Wikipedia)
FFN Statement
“Faith & Freedom News warmly welcomes and congratulates Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri on becoming Morocco’s first female Prime Minister. Her appointment is a landmark moment for Morocco and an encouraging development for women across the Arab and Muslim world.”
“Women’s empowerment is not simply about representation; it is about creating meaningful opportunities for women to contribute to the political, economic and social development of their countries. The appointment of a woman to the highest level of government demonstrates that women can play a central role in shaping national policy and public institutions,” FFN said.
Platform: jobs, housing and women’s economic independence
FFN welcomed the emphasis on young people, employment and women’s economic independence. The party programme targets one million new jobs over five years, first jobs for hundreds of thousands of young people, and wider access to affordable housing. For women, it stresses childcare, safer transportation, flexible working and a dedicated fund for female entrepreneurs and access to finance.
“These priorities are particularly important because political empowerment and economic empowerment must advance together. When women have greater access to education, employment, entrepreneurship, finance and political leadership, families and communities can benefit as well.”

“From becoming the first woman to lead Marrakesh to becoming the first woman to lead Morocco’s government, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri’s journey is historic. We congratulate her and wish her wisdom, strength and success in serving the Moroccan people,” FFN said, adding that leadership opportunities should be open to qualified women and men alike.
The road ahead
El Mansouri now faces the task of forming a coalition government and addressing economic growth, youth employment, housing and preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
“Morocco has opened a new chapter in its political history. We hope this moment will inspire more young women to enter public service, pursue leadership and contribute to building peaceful, prosperous and inclusive societies.”
