Sheikh Musa Drammeh and his wife Shireena have invited friends in the United States and around the world to join them in New York City on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m., to celebrate 25 years of their grassroots peacebuilding mission in the United States, the Holy Land, and beyond. The couple dedicated the celebration to their recently announced anti-BDS initiative, The Unbreakable Bond Investment.

In their invitation, the Drammehs said that over the years they have traveled to the Holy Land on numerous occasions and engaged in meaningful conversations with Arab Israelis, Jewish Israelis, and Palestinians. Through those experiences, they said they came to the conclusion that punitive measures intended to harm Israel can also adversely affect many Palestinians whose livelihoods depend on employment with Israeli companies.

The couple said they are also mindful of Israel’s land and population size in comparison with the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the 22 member states of the Arab League, and that their decision to dedicate the celebration to the anti-BDS campaign draws on verses from the Qur’an.

What Is the Unbreakable Bond Coalition?

The Anti-BDS Campaign, known as The Unbreakable Bond Investment Initiative, is a grassroots peacebuilding initiative launched by the Unbreakable Bond Coalition to promote investment and economic cooperation as an alternative to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. The coalition comprises the American Muslim & Multifaith Women’s Empowerment Council (AMMWEC), Muslim Women Speakers Bureau, Global Youth Unity Project (GYUP), Abraham PRC, Muslims Israel Dialogue, and their organizational partners.

The initiative was officially launched in New York City on July 9, 2026. It encourages supporters worldwide to contribute a minimum of US$1 toward a collective investment fund, with the coalition aiming to mobilize at least 500,000 supporters by October 9, 2026, to build an initial fund of at least US$500,000.

The coalition intends to invest the fund in Israeli Treasury Bonds, with investment returns donated to nonprofit organizations that promote peacebuilding, interfaith dialogue, coexistence, and efforts to combat antisemitism. The named beneficiary organizations are Sharaka, the Jerusalem Interfaith Center, the Combat Antisemitism Movement, and Debate for Peace. The fund will be managed by a contracted financial institution under the oversight of an independent fiduciary Board of Trustees to ensure accountability and transparency.

The Case Against BDS

The coalition argues that, because of Israel’s longstanding control over border crossings, customs, water, electricity, and fuel infrastructure, complete economic separation from the Israeli economy is not practical for the daily lives of many Palestinians. It also notes that some Palestinian voices, including human rights commentator Bassem Eid and certain Palestinian business owners, have opposed broad boycott campaigns, arguing that large-scale corporate withdrawals could eliminate thousands of relatively well-paid manufacturing and agricultural jobs held by Palestinians in Israeli industrial zones.

Describing themselves as Muslim voices who identify as both pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel, the Drammehs said they are encouraging Palestinian stakeholders and their supporters to re-evaluate long-held views on BDS, which recently marked its 21st anniversary. The coalition contends the movement has not achieved its original objectives and, in its view, has instead strengthened Israel’s resolve in responding to them.
