Knesset Member Akram Hasson received a delegation from the Iranian opposition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem for a meeting to discuss the future of relations between Israel and the Iranian people. The discussion focused on regional changes and the position of the Iranian opposition in any future developments within Iran, as well as the importance of building political channels today, paving the way for a different reality in the region and a political vision for the post-regime era in Tehran.

During the meeting, the delegation told Hasson that Israel does not consider the Iranian people an enemy. In their words, the enemy is the regime in Tehran, which has been funding terrorism and working against Israel and against the stability of the region for years.

The delegation arrived in Israel in cooperation with the Abraham Movement, the Al-Maqdis Center for Interfaith Dialogue, and the Aftab project, as part of a move aimed at building a direct relationship between Israel and the Iranian opposition to the regime in Tehran.

Who Is Akram Hasson?

Akram Hasson is an Israeli Druze politician currently serving as a member of the Knesset representing New Hope, his third spell in office. He previously served as an MK for Kadima between 2012 and 2013, and then as an MK for Kulanu from 2016 to 2019.

Aftab Project Set to Brief Israeli Crypto Community

The delegation’s visit was preceded by an announcement from Tom Wegner, founder and chairman of the Abraham Movement, describing a related development: the senior Iranian opposition delegation would hold a special briefing for Israel’s cryptocurrency community on the Aftab project, framed as an effort to build the first and only legal financial payment channel bypassing the Iranian banking system.

According to the announcement, the briefing — hosted by Collider VC Fund and the Aftab project as an off-the-record, behind-the-scenes session — was set to cover three areas:

• Financial infrastructure: navigating sanctions, regulatory compliance, and the architecture of stablecoins.
• Privacy and freedom: cryptocurrency as an open and permissionless economic lifeline.
• Geopolitics: Zionism and economic freedom as a working plan for the Iranian opposition.

Organizers described the project as an effort to build sanctions-resistant financial infrastructure that could give ordinary Iranians a channel for economic participation outside the reach of the country’s state-controlled banking system.
