“A Religion That Connects People and Doesn’t Separate People”: Rabbi Yoel Oz on Abrahamic Unity at Haifa Jewish-Arab Gathering
A religion that connects people and doesn’t separate people… the unifying symbol between all religions, between all the tribes in the Middle East – that we are all together.
— Rabbi Yoel Oz, President of the Abrahamic Movement in IsraelHaifa, Israel — At a recent Jewish-Arab gathering held as part of the Building a Shared Future program, Rabbi Yoel Oz, President of the Abrahamic Movement in Israel and one of its founding figures, delivered a clear and powerful message of interfaith unity that stands in sharp contrast to exclusionary ideologies.
“The unifying symbol between all religions, between all the tribes in the Middle East – that we are all together,” Rabbi Oz stated. He continued by distinguishing this vision from political movements that prioritize supremacy: “And with the Muslim Brotherhood there is a supremacy of their own, and that is not an Islam of inclusion and moderation – it is usually more extreme. And I think we are talking about a religion that connects people and doesn’t separate people.”

The Abrahamic Vision
Rabbi Yoel Oz has long advocated for an “Abrahamic” framework as a path toward coexistence. As co-founder of the Abrahamic Movement and author of works exploring federal and confederal models rooted in the shared patriarchal figure of Abraham (Ibrahim), Oz emphasizes that Jews, Muslims, Christians, and related communities share a spiritual lineage that can serve as a foundation for cooperation rather than conflict.
Shared Abrahamic Heritage

A unifying symbol across the Middle East’s diverse tribes and faiths
This approach stands in deliberate contrast to ideologies that elevate one group’s supremacy. By framing religion as a force that “connects people and doesn’t separate people,” Rabbi Oz articulates a vision of moderation and inclusion that the Abrahamic Movement seeks to cultivate through grassroots encounters and sustained dialogue.
A Growing Global Network
The Abrahamic Movement, under the leadership of co-founder and CEO Tom Wegner, has expanded into a network of local branches and partnerships across more than twenty countries and communities. Its work includes interfaith dialogues, publications such as The Abrahamic Revolution, and initiatives aimed at fostering a shared regional identity rooted in common heritage.
