VP Vance: No U.S. Troops in Gaza as Ceasefire Holds
No American Boots on the Ground
Speaking from the newly opened U.S.-Israel Ceasefire Coordination Center in southern Israel, Vance was emphatic about the U.S. military’s role—or lack thereof—in Gaza.
Instead, the U.S. will coordinate an emerging international stabilization force, potentially including Gulf Arab, Turkish, and Asian partners under a UN mandate. The vice president emphasized that Washington’s role would be limited to coordination and oversight of security operations and reconstruction efforts.
Cautious Optimism After Turbulent Weekend
Vance’s visit comes after a turbulent weekend when two Israeli soldiers were shot and killed, threatening to collapse the week-old ceasefire—the first phase of President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan between Israel and Hamas.
The vice president acknowledged that achieving lasting peace will require constant effort and flexibility, but insisted progress made so far provides grounds for hope.
⚠️ Trump’s Stark Warning to Hamas
Despite optimism for peace, President Trump issued a dire warning to Hamas on Tuesday morning via Truth Social, stating that multiple Middle Eastern allies have offered to deploy heavy forces into Gaza to “straighten out Hamas” if the group continues to violate the ceasefire agreement.
“If they do not, an end to Hamas will be FAST, FURIOUS, & BRUTAL!” the president declared.
Hamas Must Disarm—Or Face Annihilation
Vance echoed the president’s message while maintaining focus on giving the peace process a chance to succeed:
The 20-point peace plan requires Hamas to completely disarm and cease all violence, including killings of Palestinian civilians. The vice president warned that Hamas must “behave itself” or face severe consequences.
Key Players and Reconstruction Details
U.S. Coordination
Oversees security plans, reconstruction efforts, and ensures aid reaches intended destinations without Hamas control.
Jared Kushner’s Role
Trump’s son-in-law, instrumental in securing the deal, confirmed: “No reconstruction funds will be going into areas that Hamas still controls.”
International Force
Security details for participating countries still being worked out and must be agreed upon by Israel.
New Gaza Vision
Construction of a “new Gaza” to provide Palestinians with safe places to live, work, and rebuild their lives.
Historic Diplomatic Push
The vice president’s visit comes one week after Trump’s historic trip to the region, where he met with Israeli leaders as well as leaders from Arab, Muslim, and European countries—all vowing to play roles in securing peace in Gaza.
The Kiryat Gat coordination center currently hosts military liaisons from Britain, Canada, Germany, Denmark, and Jordan, with Indonesia publicly offering peacekeepers and Turkey and Azerbaijan signaling private interest.
Kushner emphasized that once an International Stabilization Force (ISF) is established, Palestinians in Gaza will need to feel secure from Hamas before reconstruction can fully transition. Construction is already being considered in areas controlled by the IDF to give displaced Palestinians jobs, housing, and hope for the future.
