Standing Against Extremism, Antisemitism and Religious Hatred: A Call for Fairness, Freedom of Expression and Muslim–Jewish Solidarity
A statement of support for Mr. Mansoor Hussain Laghari and his commitment to peace, interfaith understanding and the protection of religious minorities.
Freedom of expression, religious tolerance and the rejection of extremism are essential pillars of a peaceful and inclusive society. Individuals who dedicate themselves to challenging hatred, promoting dialogue and building bridges between communities deserve to be treated fairly and heard respectfully.
A voice against extremism
Mr. Mansoor Hussain Laghari, a U.S. military and police veteran, human rights advocate, and outspoken Muslim supporter of peaceful Muslim–Jewish relations, has been presented as a committed voice against religious extremism, antisemitism, terrorism and intolerance. His stated mission reflects an important principle: people of different faiths and backgrounds can work together to defend human dignity, oppose hatred and build a more peaceful world.
According to information shared with Mr. Mohamed Abdi Hassan Seed, Mr. Laghari is the founder of the Global Youth Unity Project (GYUP) and serves as Secretary-General of the Unbreakable Bond Coalition. His work is described as focused on youth unity, interfaith solidarity and strengthening relationships between Muslim and Jewish communities, including support for peaceful engagement between Americans, Israelis and people across the wider international community.
Concerns about social media account suspension
Reports shared with Mr. Seed state that Mr. Laghari’s Facebook account has been suspended. At the time of writing, the specific reason for the suspension has not been independently verified.
Nevertheless, the situation raises important questions about transparency, fair moderation and the protection of legitimate public-interest speech on social media platforms.
Meta and Facebook should provide users with clear explanations when accounts are suspended, accessible appeal procedures, and a fair review of the content and circumstances involved. If a suspension has occurred in error and no applicable policy violation is established, reinstatement would be an appropriate outcome.
The call is for transparency, due process and a fair review, not a presumption about facts that have yet to be confirmed.
It is important to distinguish criticism of extremism, opposition to antisemitism, condemnation of terrorism and peaceful advocacy for religious minorities from attacks against people because of their faith, ethnicity or identity. At the same time, social media moderation decisions should be assessed using the relevant evidence and platform policies rather than assumptions about the reasons behind an individual case.
Muslim–Jewish solidarity: a shared responsibility
Muslims and Jews have a long and complex history, but they also share important ethical traditions, including charity, justice, compassion, respect for human life and responsibility toward others. Select a value below to read how it is reflected in the statement.
Building constructive Muslim–Jewish relationships is not a rejection of one’s own faith or identity. Rather, it is an opportunity to demonstrate that religious conviction and mutual respect can coexist.
Opposing antisemitism does not mean abandoning the legitimate rights of Palestinians or silencing criticism of any government. Similarly, standing against anti-Muslim hatred requires protecting the dignity and rights of Muslims everywhere. A consistent commitment to human rights rejects hatred and discrimination against all religious communities.
Youth organizations, civil society institutions, community leaders and international partners can contribute by creating practical opportunities for dialogue, education, humanitarian cooperation and peaceful engagement.
A message of support from Somaliland
From Hargeisa, Somaliland, Mr. Mohamed Abdi Hassan Seed expresses support for the principles of freedom of expression, religious coexistence, opposition to antisemitism and the rejection of violent extremism.
Through his work in development cooperation, people-to-people engagement and interfaith initiatives, Mr. Seed advocates constructive partnerships that bring communities together around shared interests and common human values.
He believes that individuals who promote dialogue across religious and cultural boundaries should have the opportunity to present their views peacefully and should receive fair treatment under applicable rules and procedures.
The situation involving Mr. Laghari is therefore an opportunity to reaffirm a wider principle: the fight against hatred must itself be guided by fairness, transparency, respect and truth.
