Massachusetts Governor Honors Bangladeshi-American Community Leader Farhana Khorshed for Outstanding Service
Executive Director of the New England Bangladeshi American Foundation receives a Governor’s Citation recognizing her leadership, advocacy, and service across the Commonwealth.
Farhana Khorshed, a respected interpreter, community leader, and advocate for social justice and women’s empowerment, has been awarded a Governor’s Citation by the Office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey in recognition of her outstanding service to the Bangladeshi-American community.
The citation, signed by Governor Maura Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kimberly Driscoll, recognizes Khorshed’s leadership as the Executive Director of the New England Bangladeshi American Foundation (NEBAF). The award highlights her dedication to advocating for community support, providing vital resources, and bringing people together across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
According to the citation, the recognition was presented in acknowledgment of Khorshed’s service to the Bangladeshi American community, noting that through her leadership as Executive Director of the New England Bangladeshi American Foundation, she advocates for support, provides resources, and brings people together across Massachusetts.
“This honor inspires me to continue building bridges, empowering others, and giving back to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”
Expressing her gratitude, Khorshed said she was honored and humbled to receive the recognition from the Governor’s Office. She thanked everyone who has supported her journey and reaffirmed her commitment to serving the community through NEBAF.
A Voice for Community and Women’s Empowerment
Khorshed also serves as an Executive Board Member of AMMWEC, where she continues to advocate for social development and women’s rights. Through her leadership, she has worked to strengthen community engagement, expand access to educational resources, and preserve the cultural heritage of Bangladeshi-Americans in New England.
She emphasized that NEBAF’s mission remains focused on creating a strong platform for resources, education, and community engagement while promoting unity within the community. Khorshed also pledged to continue empowering women, mentoring the next generation of leaders, and addressing social challenges through collaboration and service.
The Governor’s Citation recognizes her ongoing efforts to foster inclusion, strengthen communities, and make a lasting impact across Massachusetts, underscoring the important contributions of Bangladeshi-American leaders to the state’s diverse civic landscape.
