Fleur Hassan‑Nahoum, the commentator and former Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, announced on her social media accounts that she will run for the Knesset in the upcoming election, joining forces with former IDF Givati Brigade commander Ofer Winter under the banner of a new political alliance, Amach Yisrael — “Your Nation, Israel.”

“I am proud to announce that I am running for Knesset in the upcoming election with Ofer Winter and Amach Yisrael!” Hassan‑Nahoum wrote, framing the move as the next chapter in more than two decades of public service that began when she made Aliyah from Gibraltar in 2001, at the height of the Second Intifada.

Since then, she has served as a Jerusalem City Councilor, as Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, and most recently as Israel’s Special Envoy for Innovation — a role in which she worked to deepen ties with Gulf neighbors and to promote women’s leadership in public life. In the aftermath of October 7, 2023, she became one of Israel’s most visible media voices abroad, representing the country to international audiences in person and on air.

That conviction, she said, is what led her to join Winter, a fellow reservist and public figure who has likewise “dedicated his life to serving Israel.” Together, the pair argue that the country needs to move past “the same tired ideas and faces” and build genuine strategy — both militarily and diplomatically — rather than remaining reactive to events.

The new party is being pitched as a platform built around people who have “stepped up and worked for the good of Israel” and are now “ready to take responsibility for Israel’s future.” In her statement, Hassan‑Nahoum laid out several priorities for the alliance: treating national service as a shared privilege and responsibility with full state backing for those who serve; developing a genuine strategy to confront threats “across all fronts”; welcoming new immigrants, or Olim, and representing their needs in government; and strengthening ties with Jewish communities in the Diaspora.

“We will develop real strategy to combat and defeat our enemies across all fronts,” she said, adding that unity between Israel and Diaspora communities remains central to the country’s resilience: “we are strongest when we are united.”

Hassan‑Nahoum closed her announcement with a note of both pride and resolve, describing Israel as “an extraordinary country, filled with extraordinary people who are deserving of bold and decisive leadership” — leadership, she added, “that understands that our role is in service to our country and our people.”

“I am proud to stand with Ofer Winter and my friends in Amach Yisrael,” she wrote, “and I am ready to serve.”
