Eid, Arafat, and the Children of Abraham
On the Day of Arafat, Dr. Anila Ali calls Muslims back to the true legacy of the Prophet Ibrahim — and issues an unequivocal call to end hatred of Jews and Christians within the ummah.
On the blessed Day of Arafat, and as Muslims across the world prepare for Eid al-Adha, we are reminded of one of the deepest truths of our faith: our story is directly tied to Prophet Abraham — Ibrahim, peace be upon him — the patriarch honored by Muslims, Jews, and Christians alike.
Every year, Muslims commemorate sacrifice, obedience to God, humility, and mercy. We remember the family of Abraham. We pray in the name of Abraham. We send blessings upon Abraham and his family in our daily prayers — five times, every single day.
So I ask those who preach hatred of Jews and Christians: Do you even know your own history? Do you know where you come from?
You cannot claim to love the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, while teaching hatred toward the people connected to the very Abrahamic family he honored. You cannot claim to worship the God of Abraham while dividing the children of Abraham through hatred, intimidation, and bigotry.
“Those who distract Muslims with hatred of Jews, hatred of Israel, and hatred of Christians are not guiding the ummah. They are poisoning it.”— Dr. Anila Ali, AMMWEC
The Prophet of Islam did not come to teach us hatred. He came to guide us toward worship of One God, moral discipline, justice, mercy, and dignity. Those who distract Muslims with hatred of Jews, hatred of Israel, and hatred of Christians are not guiding the ummah. They are poisoning it. They are pulling us away from real worship of God and replacing faith with grievance, anger, and political manipulation.
God does not want the children of Abraham divided by nefarious people and organizations who profit from hate. Hate will not liberate Muslims. Hate will not strengthen the ummah. Hate will eat us from within and leave us spiritually empty.
This Eid, let us return to the true legacy of Abraham: faith, sacrifice, courage, hospitality, and unity under One God.
As Muslims, we must say clearly: hatred of Jews must end. Hatred of Christians must end. Hatred preached in the name of Islam must end.
The children of Abraham were not created to destroy one another. We were called to worship God, stand for justice, and build peace.
