“Does Anyone Truly Believe the Kingdom Is Under Fire?” Samir Geagea Calls for Global Solidarity with Saudi Arabia
The Lebanese politician condemns the attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, defends the Kingdom’s record of moderation, and urges moderate nations to stand with it.
Lebanese political leader Dr. Samir Geagea has issued a forceful statement of solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following attacks that hit King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and other locations across the Kingdom. In a post on X, he opened with a pointed question: “Does anyone truly believe that the Kingdom is under fire?”
Mr. Geagea described Saudi Arabia as a country that “has never left a single Arab state in distress without rushing to its aid and support.” For that reason, he said, the Kingdom deserves “our full solidarity, each according to their position and capabilities,” as well as the backing of all moderate nations. “Not for any particular reason,” he wrote, “but because the Kingdom has always been a symbol and emblem of moderation.”

Two Questions, Posed “For the Sake of Reminder”
Mr. Geagea framed his defence of the Kingdom around two rhetorical questions. Tap each to see how he set out his point.
Geagea’s Account of the Yemen Conflict
Addressing Yemen directly, Mr. Geagea said that, contrary to the claims of the resistance axis, the Houthis were “from the very first moment, the initiators of a full coup, in broad daylight,” against the legitimate authority of President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi. He said that authority had been established with the support of more than 90% of the Yemeni people at the time.
He added that, despite the coup, the Kingdom “exerted tremendous efforts to find an acceptable solution” between the legitimate government and the Houthis, and reached a draft solution in 2023. The “result and reward,” he said, is that the Houthis are now targeting the Kingdom’s vital, economic and human facilities.

Condolences and a Call for Backing
Mr. Geagea closed his statement by extending his condolences to the Kingdom and to the families of the victims who fell in the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and in other places in the Kingdom. He also wished a speedy recovery to all those injured.
The statement reflects a broader appeal for moderate states to rally behind Riyadh at a moment of heightened regional tension. As of this writing, FFN has not independently verified the details of the attacks cited in the post, and readers are encouraged to consult official statements from the Saudi authorities.
