Culture · Sports & SolidarityAccording to delegation leader Eric Rubin, it was the first time an HBCU came to Israel to play basketball, explore the Christian holy sites and see the country firsthand.
Eric Rubin, who has led many delegations to Israel, says none was as historic as the trip made by the Allen University Yellow Jackets men’s basketball program with Project Max. Rubin described it as the first time an HBCU, a Historically Black College and University, came to Israel to play basketball, explore the Christian holy sites, and see the truth about Israel firsthand.
The Yellow Jackets traveled to Israel to take the court, as the first HBCU to do so, according to Rubin.
The program’s visit included the Christian holy sites, part of a trip meant to be as much about experience as competition.
Rubin said the players saw “the truth about Israel” for themselves, and called them attentive and inquisitive throughout.
