March 21, 2025 – Senior officials from the United States and Israel are set to convene in Washington next week for high-level discussions on Iran’s nuclear program, amid growing tensions and diplomatic maneuvering in the region.
The Israeli delegation will be led by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and National Security Council head Tzachi Hanegbi. They will be joined by top officials from the Israel Defense Forces, Mossad, and various ministries. The American team, headed by President Donald Trump’s National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, will include representatives from the State Department, Pentagon, and U.S. intelligence agencies, according to Axios.
A senior U.S. official confirmed that discussions on Iran’s nuclear program will be the primary focus, with potential U.S.-Iran negotiations also expected to be on the table. The talks come at a critical juncture as the international community continues to monitor Iran’s nuclear ambitions and possible diplomatic solutions.
In addition to Iran, the strategic meetings will also address the ongoing war in Gaza and negotiations between Israel and Lebanon regarding their disputed border.
Earlier this week, President Trump issued a two-month ultimatum to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, demanding a decision on whether Iran will engage in talks with the U.S. to curb its nuclear activities. Failure to comply, Trump warned, could result in unspecified consequences.
Analysts speculate that Trump’s ultimatum signals a heightened risk of military intervention if diplomatic efforts falter. As the high-level talks approach, the outcome may significantly influence future U.S.-Israel relations and broader Middle Eastern stability.
