May 15, 2025 – Doha, Qatar
President Donald Trump’s historic Middle East tour continued today with a high-powered roundtable featuring executives from Boeing and General Electric, where he announced what he called “the largest widebody aircraft order in Boeing’s history” by Qatar Airways. The meeting underscored Trump’s successful economic diplomacy that has seen over $10 trillion in potential investments secured for the United States in just two months since his return to office.
America Is “Hot as a Pistol”
Speaking confidently before representatives of American industry giants and Qatari officials, President Trump declared that America has undergone a remarkable transformation since his return to the White House.
“Our country is hot. It’s hot as a pistol. I don’t think it’s ever been so hot,” Trump stated. “If you go back six months, it was the exact opposite. We had a man that couldn’t even stand up.”
This direct comparison to the previous administration highlighted Trump’s campaign narrative of revitalization and renewal, with the President noting, “Six months ago, they were laughing at the United States, but they don’t laugh anymore.”
Historic Investment Achievements
The centerpiece of the roundtable was the announcement of Qatar Airways’ massive order with Boeing, which Trump described as potentially “the largest order you’ve ever had,” directing his comments to Boeing CEO Kelly.
“All of these aircraft will be built in the United States, creating a significant number of jobs,” Boeing’s CEO confirmed, emphasizing alignment with Trump’s job creation priorities.
GE Aerospace CEO Larry also participated in the roundtable, explaining that the deal includes “over 400 engines” for Boeing aircraft, representing “the largest widebody order really in our company’s history.”
Trump praised both executives for their business leadership, particularly acknowledging Larry’s transformation of General Electric: “It’s one of the greatest turnarounds that you’ll ever see in a company.”
Middle East Peace Initiatives
Beyond economic deals, Trump outlined diplomatic progress in the Middle East, including:
- Efforts to broker peace in Yemen by convincing Houthi forces to stop attacking ships
- Lifting sanctions on Syria to give the country “a fighting chance”
- Negotiations with Iran toward “long-term peace”
“We’re going to protect this country,” Trump assured Qatar’s leadership, referring to the close relationship with the Gulf nation. “We have a very special relationship with Qatar…nobody’s going to break that relationship.”
Trump specifically credited Qatar’s Amir for diplomatic efforts to mediate with Iran, saying “Iran should say a big thank you to the Amir because the Amir is fighting very much” for a diplomatic rather than military solution.
American Military Strength
The President emphasized American military superiority, stating “We have the strongest military in the world by far. Not China, not Russia, not anybody.”
Trump announced a historic $1 trillion defense budget—”the biggest we’ve ever done”—while expressing hope that military force won’t be necessary due to his “peace through strength” approach.
Manufacturing Resurgence in America
Trump highlighted the influx of manufacturing returning to American shores, with “hundreds of different big companies pouring into America now creating jobs like we have never seen before.”
He specifically mentioned:
- Taiwan semiconductor companies
- Nvidia’s $600 billion investment
- TSMC’s planned $200 billion factory in Arizona
- Apple’s $500 billion investment
Trump recounted pressing Apple CEO Tim Cook to increase U.S. production rather than expanding in India: “I said to Tim, look, we’ve treated you really good. We put up with all the plants that you built in China for years. Now you got to build in the U.S.”
Transportation and Infrastructure
The President criticized previous administration’s infrastructure efforts, particularly targeting former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg: “He takes a bicycle to work. Can you believe it? He’s running the biggest air system in the world and he takes a bicycle to work.”
Trump contrasted this with his appointment of Sean Duffy to head transportation initiatives, praising Duffy as “doing a fantastic job” while humorously noting Duffy’s background as a “world champion” lumberjack.
2024 Election Mandate
Reflecting on his 2024 electoral victory, Trump described it as “an obliteration” that gave him a mandate “that nobody’s had,” citing wins in “all seven swing states” and a majority of counties across America.
“It was the most consequential election in 129 years,” Trump stated, quoting what he described as an “enemy paper.”
Ukraine-Russia Conflict
Trump expressed determination to end the Ukraine-Russia conflict, lamenting the weekly loss of approximately 5,000 soldiers.
“I’ve never seen anything like that,” Trump said of satellite imagery from the battlefield. “You have heads and arms and legs strewn all over the field.”
The President criticized previous aid to Ukraine as having “no accounting,” but indicated his administration is actively negotiating for peace.
America First, World Second
Closing his remarks, Trump reaffirmed his “Make America Great Again” philosophy, stating: “We put America first, but because we’re putting it first, we’re doing so well. There’s going to be plenty left over to help the world.”
This historic Middle East trip continues to demonstrate President Trump’s unique blend of business acumen and diplomatic skill as he rebuilds American influence abroad while driving unprecedented economic growth at home.
