
Budapest, March 31, 2025 – Tristan Azbej, State Secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians and head of the Hungary Helps Program, expressed his honor in greeting Archbishop Gallagher, often referred to as the “Foreign Minister” of the Holy See, during his visit to Hungary at the invitation of Minister Péter Szijjártó.
In his remarks, Azbej highlighted that the archbishop’s father had conveyed a heartfelt message from the Holy See, expressing deep appreciation for Hungary’s dedicated service to persecuted Christians. The message also extended well wishes for a safe journey and success for the upcoming missions. “I wish good luck and good service to our diplomats representing Hungary abroad!” Azbej added in a follow-up post, emphasizing the vital role of Hungarian diplomacy in advancing these humanitarian efforts.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity for mission leaders to discuss current developments within the Hungary Helps – Magyarország Segít program and to coordinate on shared objectives in protecting persecuted Christians. Azbej reiterated Hungary’s commitment to defending the faith and ensuring that support reaches those who need it most around the globe.
