Thailand is preparing to host the 2026 annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) from 12 to 18 October 2026, in Bangkok.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Pichai Chunhavajira, who chaired the meeting to prepare for the summit, said that the global event will provide significant opportunities for Thailand to showcase its economic and financial advancement as the country is moving toward becoming a regional financial hub.

Director-General of the Government Public Relations Department Sudruetai Lertkasem joined the meeting as part of the Communication Working Group. She outlined strategies to deliver inclusive messaging across traditional, online, and outdoor platforms.
The IMF-WBG Annual Meetings are one of the world’s top economic conferences. The meetings are expected to draw over 12,000 representatives, including financial ministers, central bank governors, and leaders of financial institutions, as well as executives and staff of IMF and WBG. This will be the second occasion since 1991 that Thailand has had the honor of hosting the annual meetings of the IMF and WBG.
