Sharaka – meaning “Partnership” in Arabic – is on a mission to shape a new Middle East built on dialogue, understanding, cooperation, and friendship. Dedicated to promoting people-to-people diplomacy through community building, education, and engagement around the Abraham Accords, the organization is making significant strides in advocating for peace across the region.
During a recent 12-day advocacy tour in Washington, D.C., Sharaka’s Co-Chairman Dan Feferman shared highlights of the delegation’s busy schedule on social media. The delegation met with the U.S. State Department’s Near East affairs team, engaged with members of Congress and their advisors, and spoke at various venues including George Washington University, Washington Hebrew, and Moishe House. Their discussions focused on bolstering and expanding the Abraham Accords and formulating smart policies and strategies to promote peace in the Middle East.

Feferman praised the fruitful engagements during the trip, noting, “Lots of good things to come,” and highlighted meetings with local civic and academic leaders, high school students, young Jewish professionals, as well as various Muslim and interfaith leaders. A memorable moment from the tour was the visit to see a Lego reproduction of the first-ever U.S. embassy in Tangier, Morocco – a symbol of the evolving ties between the U.S. and the region.
Reflecting on the experience, Feferman concluded his tour by saying, “It’s good to finally be home.” The delegation’s extensive discussions in Congress and at the State Department underscored Sharaka’s commitment to using education, outreach, bridge building, and networking as powerful tools for peace advocacy in the Middle East.
