Dan Feferman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharaka – شراكة Foundation, has announced the launch of the fourth year of the Sharaka Holocaust Education program, welcoming 32 young leaders from civil society, journalism, academia, and religious leadership across North Africa and the Middle East. Participants hail from Morocco, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, reflecting Sharaka’s commitment to interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding.
Activist and political expertThe delegation began its journey in Germany, where they toured historical sites to explore the roots of Nazi antisemitism. Feferman delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of Holocaust education in fostering a culture of responsibility, tolerance, and pluralism. “Today, we start in Germany to understand how hatred took hold in the past so that we can build a future where antisemitism has no place,” he stated.

A highlight of the program was an exchange with Dr. Felix Klein, Germany’s Federal High Commissioner for Combating Antisemitism, who addressed the delegation on modern Germany’s efforts to educate towards tolerance and ensure that racism and antisemitism remain unacceptable. The group also paid respects at the Berlin Holocaust Memorial, reinforcing the program’s mission to preserve memory as a bulwark against hatred.

Participants will conclude their visit by taking part in the March of the Living, an uplifting procession from Auschwitz to Birkenau that honors Holocaust victims and celebrates survival. Feferman noted, “It is an honor to guide this cohort through both the darkest chapters of history and the brightest symbols of hope.” He encouraged readers to stay tuned for further updates as the program continues to build bridges across communities.
