Peace Through Strength Lights Up Budapest: A New Era of Global Unity

In a vibrant celebration of enduring alliances and renewed global leadership, Budapest played host to the “Peace Through Strength — The World Aligns with Trump and Hungary” conference on February 28 at the historic Lónyay–Hatvany Villa. Organized by the Center for Fundamental Rights, the event heralded a bold new approach in international relations—a direction marked by resolute partnerships and a shared vision for peace.

The conference opened with an uplifting address by Director General Miklós Szánthó. Emphasizing the transformative geopolitical landscape, Mr. Szánthó declared, “There is a new world, there is a new situation,” setting the tone for a day of optimistic discourse. He highlighted the significant strides in US–Hungary relations, noting that the mutual backing between Hungarian leadership and President Trump had forged unprecedented bonds of respect and cooperation.

Throughout the day, distinguished speakers reinforced the theme that strong leadership is the cornerstone of global stability. Mr. Szánthó praised the unity between Prime Minister Orbán and President Trump, arguing that this alignment is not only creating a more secure world but is also fostering international respect among nations. The conference also celebrated contemporary developments such as Vice President JD Vance’s affirmation of his Christian faith, symbolizing a turning point where traditional values and political strength merge to shape a better future.

Pastor Mario Bramnick, President of the Latino Coalition for Israel, shared a heartfelt perspective on the evolving global order. Drawing from his personal history and his family’s escape from communist oppression, he underscored how President Trump’s victory has benefitted not just the United States but also reinforced the protective bonds among allied nations. His remarks resonated with the audience, inspiring a renewed sense of hope and commitment to shared values such as border security, economic opportunity, and the pursuit of freedom.

A dynamic panel discussion further enriched the conference. Moderated by Bryan Leib, Senior Fellow for the Center for Fundamental Rights, the session featured insights from former US Deputy Special Envoy Ellie Cohanim, Director of Hungary Helps Péter Kovács, and religious freedom advocate Paul Murray. They discussed pressing global issues including the preservation of religious freedoms and the vital role of faith in safeguarding human rights. The panelists painted a picture of a world where cultural and spiritual values are cherished, underscoring that the strength of nations is deeply intertwined with the strength of their convictions.

Attendees also reflected on recent international events with a spirit of unity and resolve. Ms. Cohanim expressed gratitude towards the Hungarian people for their steadfast support in challenging times, while Mr. Kovács brought attention to the global struggle for religious freedom—reminding all present that the fight for justice continues, even as progress is being made.
