BANGKOK — Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra will lead her cabinet on Monday to the northeastern provinces of Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, and Mukdahan, inspecting flagship development projects and assessing local challenges ahead of a mobile cabinet meeting in Nakhon Phanom on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning at Nakhon Phanom University, the second mobile cabinet meeting of 2025 will convene. Following the session, Ms. Paetongtarn will:
- Inspect the Nakhon Phanom Customs Office
- Tour Key Border Checkpoints with Laos to evaluate cross-border trade operations and streamline logistics.
“Nakhon Phanom and Mukdahan are high-potential provinces, located along the border with Laos, with major transport routes that connect all the way to central Vietnam through Da Nang,” Mr. Jirayu added. “This visit will help these provinces enhance their competitiveness in tourism, trade, investment, and drug suppression.”
Strategic Importance for Regional Development
Situated on vital trade corridors, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom and Mukdahan play a crucial role in Thailand’s ASEAN integration and Greater Mekong Subregion connectivity. By focusing on:
- Cross-Border Trade
- Water Security
- Sustainable Economic Models
- Anti-Drug Operations
the government aims to boost local incomes, improve public health and safeguard border communities.
As Thailand continues to decentralize governance and promote region-specific solutions, Prime Minister Paetongtarn’s mobile cabinet tour underscores her administration’s hands-on approach to inclusive, sustainable development.
