Brussels, March 18, 2025 – Tristan Azbej, Hungary’s State Secretary for the Aid of Persecuted Christians and the Hungary Helps Program, has reaffirmed Hungary’s unwavering commitment to aiding Syrian Christians and preventing migration.
At Syria Donor Conference in Brussels, Azbej announced that Hungary will provide 4.6 million euros to support Syrian Christian social missions, humanitarian programs, and the construction of a Syrian Orthodox school and religious center.
“This is what solidarity demands, and it is in Hungary’s best interest to prevent migration rather than bear its security risks and financial burden,” Azbej stated.

The EU Donor Conference in Syria officially commenced in Brussels after his announcement. Hungary, as in the past, has pledged to stand by persecuted Christians and innocent Syrian civilians suffering due to conflict.
Azbej further declared that Hungary will provide an additional €25,000 in humanitarian aid to support the families of victims, including Christians and other minority groups affected by violence in Syria.
📢 “The goal of the Hungary Helps – Magyarország segít program is to enable Syrian people – Christians among them – to live in safety and dignified conditions in their homeland,” Azbej emphasized.
Hungary’s dedication to fostering a stable and peaceful Syria remains a top priority, as both the country’s humanitarian values and national interests align in ensuring security and prosperity for affected communities.
