Global Christian Relief (GCR) has released its quarterly Prayer Force Alert, calling on believers worldwide to join in four targeted prayer campaigns for Nigerian Christians suffering under extreme persecution. The alert details weekly prayers, Bible verses, and personal testimonies centered on the ongoing crisis perpetrated by Boko Haram—a designated terrorist group known for targeting Christian communities.
April 1-6: A Plea for Mercy
Believers are urged to pray, “God, have mercy on Boko Haram,” as Tabitha and her family were reportedly targeted by the militant group. The prayer is anchored by the words of Jesus from Luke 23:34: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
April 7-13: Boldness in the Face of Death
The alert continues with a call for divine boldness for those facing death. In the midst of severe pressure to renounce their faith, Tabitha chose martyrdom over compromise. The prayer draws on Revelation 12:11, reminding the faithful that “…they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”
April 14-20: Comfort for the Bereaved
As Nigerian Christians flee from violence, many are left with deep losses. During this period, the alert focuses on seeking comfort for those who have lost loved ones—illustrated by the tragic loss of Tabitha’s two young nephews to cholera and the recapture of her mother-in-law. Supporters are encouraged to reflect on 2 Corinthians 1:5, which promises that comfort abounds through Christ amid shared sufferings.
April 21-30: Restoration for the Oppressed
The final week’s prayer calls for the restoration of persecuted Christians. GCR’s local partners have provided tangible support, helping restore Tabitha’s ability to read the Bible and regain her dignity. Inspired by 3 John 1:2, the prayer asks, “…I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.”
Global Christian Relief, a 501(c)(3) compliant organization and charter member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, emphasizes the importance of this alert in mobilizing the global church to stand in solidarity with Nigerian believers facing relentless extremism.
