Producer & Host | Former US Diplomat | Innovation in Public Diplomacy
Wurst brings two decades of diplomatic experience from U.S. Embassies and Consulates across six countries, where he served as press and cultural attaché, spokesperson, and speechwriter. Known for his creative approach to public diplomacy, he integrated music, documentary filmmaking, food, television, and podcasting into traditional diplomatic work.
The podcast represents a culmination of Wurst’s innovative career path, where he consistently pushed boundaries within the diplomatic bureaucracy. His unique approach combined creativity, connectivity, empathy, and entertainment to redefine what public diplomacy could accomplish.
In Washington, DC, as Senior Advisor for Innovation, Wurst previously created the popular podcast “22.33,” which promoted international exchanges while highlighting global partnerships, acts of kindness, and community power.
This weekly storytelling program goes beyond traditional diplomatic narratives to reveal the human experiences behind U.S. soft power initiatives. Each episode features stories from around the world, told through the voices of unique characters who have shaped or been impacted by American cultural diplomacy and foreign assistance programs.
The podcast debuts with four inaugural episodes, followed by new content every Friday. Wurst has made the show available across all major platforms and is offering it free to public radio affiliates and community radio stations as part of his non-profit initiative.
Wurst emphasizes that early engagement is crucial for reaching a wider audience. He’s asking supporters to:
- Listen and follow on preferred podcast platforms
- Leave reviews, especially on Apple Podcasts
- Share with friends, family, and colleagues
- Consider donating to offset production and promotion costs
The podcast aims to preserve and share stories that demonstrate the impact of American soft power and cultural diplomacy on individuals and communities worldwide. By highlighting acts of kindness, compassion, and international cooperation, “SoftPower/FulStories” seeks to remind listeners of the positive potential in global engagement.
