In a world where technology transforms every facet of life, the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and faith offers a rich field for exploration. On Wednesday, 2 April 2025, the European Union in collaboration with the International Affairs Office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hosting a breakfast roundtable event titled “Faith & AI: Religious Organizations in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” The event will take place at the Marriott Renaissance on Rue du Parnasse 19 in Brussels from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Guests are invited to arrive at 8:00 a.m. for a warm networking breakfast, with the presentation beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The roundtable will feature Prof. Medlir Mema, a leading expert in AI and global governance. Prof. Mema, who currently serves as the Head of Programme for Artificial Intelligence and Global Governance at the Global Governance Institute and a Professor of International Relations at Brigham Young University Idaho, will discuss the profound impact of AI on religious organizations and beliefs. His extensive academic and professional background—including previous roles in Japan, Belgium, and Sweden—ensures that the discussion will be both insightful and far-reaching.
In addition to exploring how AI is reshaping religious thought and organization, the event will examine potential implications of the upcoming EU AI Act, offering attendees a comprehensive overview of the challenges and opportunities at this unique intersection.
The event concludes with an optional linger-longer session, providing further opportunity for networking and discussion among participants.
