In a world where faith knows no boundaries, one man’s vision connects continents through spiritual dedication and unwavering commitment.
Easter Reflections from Bangkok to Pakistan: How a 36-Year-Old Vision Became a Thriving Church Movement
As the sun rose over Bangkok this Easter Sunday, Michael D. Butler—CEO of Beyond Publishing, Faith & Freedom News FFN, and Impact 1040 Window—prepared for a day that would span continents and cultures, embodying the very essence of modern global ministry.
“Happy Easter from Bangkok—my first Easter in Thailand!” Butler shared enthusiastically on his social media platforms. His day would begin with attending an early service locally before transitioning to a virtual pulpit, delivering an Easter message to Spirit of Faith Church in Pakistan via Zoom.
“Happy Easter from Bangkok—my first Easter in Thailand!” Buttler wrote. “I’m headed to the early service and then I’ll be preaching an Easter message at Spirit of Faith Church in Pakistan via Zoom.”
What makes this particular Easter celebration especially meaningful for Butler is the remarkable story behind Spirit of Faith Church. In a testament to faith’s enduring power, Butler revealed an extraordinary connection that spans nearly four decades.
“What is so exciting about it is 36 years ago at Rhema Bible College, I wrote down that I would pioneer a church called Spirit of Faith,” Butler explained. “Last year, the team in Pakistan reached out to me and said they were ready to pioneer a church called Spirit of Faith. We never discussed the name of the church.”
This divine coincidence stands as powerful evidence of Butler’s belief that prayers have eternal significance: “It just reminds me when you give birth to things in prayer, God never aborts them. We might forget about them, but He never does. He is always working to bring it to pass for His kingdom.”
This wasn’t just another Sunday service. Spirit of Faith Church in Pakistan is special—more than special—it’s a fulfillment of a prophetic dream written down 36 years ago. While a student at Rhema Bible College, Buttler felt called to pioneer a church called Spirit of Faith. Decades passed, but last year, a team from Pakistan reached out unexpectedly, announcing that they were ready to plant a new church—and they wanted to call it Spirit of Faith. The name was never discussed between them before.
“It just reminds me that when you give birth to things in prayer, God never aborts them,” Buttler shared. “We might forget about them, but He never does.”
What started as one church has grown rapidly. The Spirit of Faith movement in Pakistan now includes 321 churches and continues to expand, even amidst persecution and social challenges. These churches are packed seven days a week, exemplifying what Buttler describes as a modern-day Book of Acts revival.
Buttler also noted the security risks the pastors face in such regions, which is why he seldom shares their faces. However, he promised to release a highlight reel on Sunday via 1040 Impact, offering a glimpse into this incredible church-planting movement.
For those inspired by this testimony, Buttler invites people to subscribe to his weekly newsletter by DM’ing their email address. He emphasizes the power of prayer in this work:
“Your prayers are making a difference.”
This Easter, Michael D. Buttler’s story reminds us of the timeless nature of God’s promises. Even visions written down three decades ago can come to life when they are conceived in faith and prayer. The Spirit of Faith Church is not only growing—it’s thriving, carrying the Gospel to the far reaches of the 1040 Window, and transforming communities in the process.
