Washington, D.C. – President Donald Trump has ushered in his second term with a renewed commitment to honoring historical and biblical ties, starting with a symbolic yet impactful renaming initiative. After officially designating the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America,” attention has now turned to Israel, where a growing movement is advocating for the U.S. to refer to the West Bank by its biblical names—Judea and Samaria.
Leading this initiative are Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY), who have reintroduced legislation that would ensure U.S. government documents reflect the historic identity of the region. “The Jewish people’s legal and historic rights to Judea and Samaria go back thousands of years,” said Sen. Cotton, emphasizing the importance of aligning U.S. policy with biblical and historical truths.
Rep. Tenney, a strong advocate for Israel, echoed this sentiment. “I remain committed to defending the integrity of the Jewish state and fully supporting Israel’s sovereignty over Judea and Samaria,” she stated.
This initiative has received strong backing from faith-based organizations, including the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) and American Christian Leaders for Israel (ACLI). Next week, during the NRB’s annual convention in Dallas, ACLI leaders plan to release a resolution voicing support for Israel’s biblical claim to the land.
“Recognizing Judea and Samaria is not just a policy decision—it’s a recognition of history,” said a spokesperson for the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem’s U.S. branch, a key supporter of the initiative.
Supporters are hopeful that the Trump administration will soon make a decisive statement on the issue, further strengthening U.S.-Israel ties. As momentum grows, this move could mark a significant step toward reaffirming the deep historical and religious connections between Israel and its ancient heartland.
