Tristan Azbej is in Lahore, where his visit exemplifies the belief that peaceful coexistence is the antidote to hate. In a recent Facebook post, Tristan, State Secretary for Programs Supporting Persecuted Christians at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, shared the transformative moments of his visit to Pakistan. Meeting with local Christian religious leaders was a vital part of his mission, emphasizing dialogue, mutual respect, and the achievement of lasting peace.
During his stay, Tristan expressed gratitude for an honorable invitation extended by the Imam of a stunning mosque in Lahore. In conversations filled with brotherly voices, both Christian and Muslim leaders discussed the possibility of a future built on the teachings of love and peace in their respective religions. As Tristan quoted from Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God,” his commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence shone through.

Tristan recounted a striking encounter with Pakistani Christian children. Just months ago, these children were trapped in inhumane conditions, working in brick factories under the scorching 50-degree heat—a stark reality of modern-day slave labor. Now, free from that brutal life and healed from trauma, many are smiling with hope in their eyes.
In another heartfelt Facebook post,“With the support of the Hungary Helps program, Catholic Caritas Pakistan rescued nearly 100 children from the hell of modern-day slavery. Today, they can go to school, learn, and have a chance at a full, dignified, happy life,” Tristan shared. He expressed deep gratitude for being able to witness this transformation, stating, “These children are not just survivors – they are living proof of hope.”

Tristan’s visit to Lahore not only underscores Hungary’s commitment to human rights and minority support through the Hungary Helps program but also reinforces the universal message of peaceful coexistence. By engaging in dialogue with both Christian and Muslim community leaders, he demonstrates that mutual respect and shared values are key to creating safer, more prosperous communities.
