In a recent op-ed, Jorge Martínez, Senior Advisor and National Director of Hispanic Outreach for America First Works, declared that “America is back — and the American people know it.” Martínez, who also served as press secretary at the U.S. Department of Justice, argued that the policies of President Donald J. Trump are already transforming the nation after what he called “four years of economic hardship, open borders, rising crime, and global embarrassment” under the Biden-Harris administration.
According to Martínez, the American people decisively rejected Democratic leadership and brought Trump back to the White House to restore “strength, safety, and prosperity.” He highlighted that the results of Trump’s renewed presidency are visible across the economy, border security, public safety, and foreign policy.
Economic Turnaround
Martínez emphasized that the U.S. economy, battered by inflation and regulatory burdens during the previous administration, is now experiencing a rebound. Under Trump’s leadership, “costs are falling, jobs are returning, and American industries are growing again.” He pointed to the use of tariffs as a key policy tool, noting they are designed to “protect American workers, level the playing field, and bring billions of dollars into our economy.”
These tariffs, he argued, “don’t raise costs for families; they punish countries that have exploited us and reward companies that invest here, in the United States.” Analysts have also noted Trump’s emphasis on reshoring manufacturing and backing small business owners, long considered the backbone of the American economy (read more).
Securing the Border
Another central theme of Martínez’s commentary was border security. He described the Biden administration’s policies as “open-border chaos” that allowed “more than 10 million illegal aliens” to enter the country, fueling cartel violence and the spread of fentanyl.
By contrast, Martínez said Trump has “reinstated strong immigration enforcement, empowered law enforcement, and ordered the mass deportation of criminal illegal aliens.” According to him, the era of catch-and-release is over, replaced by “order, accountability, and sovereignty” (full report here).
Restoring Law and Order
Martínez argued that Trump’s policies are reviving law and order nationwide. “Prosecutors are being held accountable. Violent offenders are being removed from the streets. Police officers are being backed instead of demonized,” he wrote, asserting that communities are beginning to feel safer and more stable.
America on the World Stage
On foreign policy, Martínez contended that “the weakness and confusion of the Biden-Harris years” had emboldened adversaries and eroded trust among allies. Now, he said, the U.S. is regaining global respect through Trump’s “peace through strength” doctrine, which includes standing up to China and keeping Iran in check.
“President Trump’s foreign policy is unapologetically pro-American,” Martínez wrote, calling it a decisive shift from “endless wars” to security through deterrence (see analysis).
A Clear Contrast
The opinion piece contrasted what Martínez described as the failures of the Left with Trump’s “common-sense, results-driven leadership.” He argued that Democrats “opened the floodgates at the border, crushed energy independence, exploded the national debt, and fueled division,” while Trump is focused on “protecting jobs, defending communities, and securing America’s future.”
“The American people see the difference,” Martínez concluded. “That’s why President Trump’s approval is soaring, why the Democrats are panicking, and why every major poll shows the country is ready to keep moving forward under his leadership.”
For Martínez, the message is clear: the comeback of Donald Trump is the comeback of the nation itself — and it’s only just beginning (read full op-ed).
