Robert F. Godec serves as the United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, a position he has held since presenting his credentials to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn in 2022. Ambassador Godec brings extensive diplomatic experience to this crucial posting, having previously served as U.S. Ambassador to Kenya (2013-2019) and Tunisia (2006-2009).
A career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Career Minister, Ambassador Godec has dedicated over three decades to advancing American interests abroad. His diplomatic career spans multiple continents and encompasses critical roles in both bilateral relations and multilateral diplomacy. Prior to his ambassadorial appointments, he served in various senior positions including Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of African Affairs and Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain.
Ambassador Godec holds a Bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a Master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
