AJC Mobilizes Global Response as Antisemitic Attacks Surge Amid Multifront Iran War
Nearly three weeks into the multifront Iran War, the American Jewish Committee is sounding the alarm: synagogues have been attacked or threatened across four countries in a matter of days, Jewish individuals have been physically assaulted, and the threats facing Jewish communities worldwide are intensifying at an alarming pace.
“Nearly three weeks into the multifront Iran War, it remains alarmingly clear that the threats we face are not confined to one region,” said the American Jewish Committee in its latest emergency communiqué. “For the Jewish people and the Jewish state, our challenges are global — and so must be our response.”
The AJC, which serves as the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people, has activated its network of trusted partnerships across more than 110 countries to shape what it calls “a safe, thriving future for Israel and Jews everywhere.” That urgency has intensified dramatically in recent days, following a wave of antisemitic attacks across multiple continents.
“The antisemitic synagogue attack in Michigan should horrify every American. This is not about politics — it is about the safety of Jewish children in a house of worship. We must stand up, clearly and unequivocally, and say that this violent hatred will no longer be tolerated.”— Ted Deutch, CEO, American Jewish Committee · CNN
The AJC’s response has been immediate and multi-pronged. CEO Ted Deutch appeared on CNN to call out the Michigan synagogue attack as something that “should horrify every American.” He also penned an op-ed in The Times of Israel reflecting on his 16 years in government confronting the Iranian regime’s brutality — and why this moment demands the same moral clarity.
AJC Detroit Community Director Amy Sapeika appeared on the local Fox affiliate to address how the community is responding, what needs to change, and the welcome support coming from interfaith partners across Michigan.
“This moment is not only about shifting global dynamics. It is about the lived experience of Jews here in the U.S. and around the world.”— American Jewish Committee, March 2026 Emergency Report
Beyond the antisemitism surge, the AJC has published a series of analyses to help policymakers, advocates, and the public understand the stakes of the ongoing Iran War and its regional consequences.
The AJC has also highlighted the staggering breadth of Iran’s aggression since the war began on February 28. The regime has attacked not only Israel and the United States, but has fired missiles and drones at ten nations across the region — including the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. Iran-backed Hezbollah launched over 200 rockets at Israeli civilians in a single week, one of the largest barrages of the current conflict.
The Iranian regime has also been documented using cluster munitions — weapons specifically designed to kill and maim as many people as possible — deliberately targeting Israeli civilian populations.
The American Jewish Committee (AJC) is the leading global advocacy organization for the Jewish people. Through 40 offices worldwide, AJC engages leaders in more than 110 countries — across government, education, partner communities, and the private sector — empowering them to confront antisemitism and stand as allies to Israel. AJC has been at the forefront of Jewish advocacy since its founding in 1906. Learn more at ajc.org.
