A historic victory for the security of the United States, Israel, and Iran’s neighbors
The American Jewish Congress (AJC) hails the overwhelming success of Operation Midnight Hammer, a historic one that reshapes the Middle East. 14 massive ordnance penetrator bombs have been fired at Iran’s nuclear sites in Fardou, Tonanz and Isfahan. In an unprecedented coordination and concealment achievement, American B-2 bombers travelled 6,900 miles to destroy Iran’s most fortified nuclear facilities, using these bombs for the first time in combat. America has redefined the rules of conflict in the Middle East and the world.
The Jewish American Congress salutes the courageous leadership of President Donald J. Trump for carrying out this historic operation, praises Israeli support and unprecedented air operations led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This process wasn’t an acceleration, but a restoration of deterrence, of truth, and of international responsibility. Tehran has exploited diplomacy to accelerate its nuclear program, but bet on the world’s frequency, and that illusion ended this week. The U.S. has acted to protect its interests and the interests of its allies: Israel, the Arab world, and beyond, by undermining the capabilities of a system that feeds on violence and deception.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has been on a murderous campaign against Americans for four decades. From the 1983 bombing of Beirut that killed 241 Marines, to the killings in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon, Tehran is responsible for the killing of more than 1,000 American soldiers. It also planned to assassinate two American officials and carried out the October 7 attack on Israel to thwart historic peace efforts between Arabs and Israel supported by both President Trump and President Biden.
Today, President Trump emphasized the unbreakable relationship between the U.S. and Israel, and praised the Israeli soldiers for their role in supporting US targets in the region. This is the power of principle: specific, precise, and rooted in the American national good.
We call on the American political elite to move past partisan divisions, and stand clearly and firmly behind President Trump on Iran.
But there’s still work to be done: to check how the Iranian regime is handling its enriched uranium reserves, and to ensure its quest for nuclear weapons is over permanently. But now, the world has witnessed a rare event: courage, clarity, and results. A new era has begun.
